Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

July & August 1975

From The East

My Brethren:

We will only have our two Stated Communications each month in July and August in order for your officers to be able to relax somewhat from the very busy schedule which we have had thus far this year.

At our first Stated meeting in July on the 10th, Brother W. Curtis Gorham will be with us to tell of the important work of the Gideons International in supplying Bibles for Schools, Hospitals, Hotels and etc. across the country. Many of you in stopping at Hotels have wondered who put the Bible in your room, well this is your chance to hear of this organization responsible.

On July 24th we will again have a night set aside to tour the Memorial. We will close the meeting as soon as possible in order to see as much of the Temple as time will allow in one evening. Wives and Families are welcome to come on this evening join with us on this tour. If you have never been on the top of the Memorial on a warm summer evening to view our city and surrounding areas, you should certainly plan to come out on the 24th for this tour.

Our first Stated in August will give the members of all the area Lodges a chance to see their Worshipful Masters confer the 2nd section of the Master Masons Degree in Our King Solomon's Robes. Alexandria-Washington Lodge will supply the Candidate and our officers will confer the first section of the degree. Each member of the cast in the 2nd section will be a Worshipful Master from one of the various Lodges in our area. The Master Mason's Lecture will be delivered by Right Worshipful Lester H. Conway, District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 1-A.

On August 28th we will host a joint visitation from the Alexandria area Lodges. These visitations are planned each year to allow old friends to get to see each other and to further the fine relations which exist between these Lodges. Please Support your Lodge with your attendance on this occasion.

On the 17th of July and 21st of August we will continue our Monthly visits to Andrew Jackson Lodge. I feel that both of Our Lodges have benefited greatly from these visitations and I hope that this tradition will be continued for many years.

On July 25th at 6:30 PM a dinner will be held in the dining room of the Memorial to honor the members of the Memoriam Committee in Alexandria. These Brethren are all to be commended for their support of all of the Lodges in Alexandria when we are called upon to conduct the last Masonic Rites for our deceased brethren.

Rt. Wor. Godfrey Runaldue, the Manager of Our Souvenir Stand, requests that if anyone knows of some one who could work 2 days a week on the Souvenir Stand in the Memorial, that they contact him at 960-1614 for more information regarding salary and hours.

One date in the fall worth bringing to your attention early, is the Official visit of our Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother Seymour Jonas Levy, to Masonic Districts 1-A, 1-B, and 54 on Saturday, November 1st at 7:30 PM in the Auditorium of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. This meeting will be a Tiled Lodge meeting and is "expected to be brisk and lively, with plenty of FELLOWSHIP and REFRESHMENTS to follow. "

The Scottish Rite Bodies in Alexandria will sponsor a Blue Lodge Visitation on Saturday, August 16th at their Temple on Braddock Road. The program begins with a dinner being served at 6:00 PM and a Master Mason's Degree to follow at 7:30 PM in full costume by members of the Scottish Rite. At the time of writing this I have a few free tickets left for the dinner, for anyone who would like to attend this event.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Donald M. Robey
Worshipful Master
