The month of February will be a busy one for our Lodge. While we only have two degree nights scheduled, we also have Grand Lodge and our annual celebration of the birthday of our Illustrious Past Master and General George Washington. Your Officers will depart for Grand Lodge on Sunday, February 8th and return on Wednesday, February llth. In the event of an emergency, we can be reached at the Hotel John Marshall in Richmond. Worshipful Brother Hugh Smith has graciously volunteered to be "on call" in case of immediate need.
Our Washington's Birthday Celebration will begin on Saturday, February l4th. At 4:00 PM our stated meeting will commence, at which time, the Grand Master will make his visit. Dinner will be served, in the dining room at 6:00 PM. At 7:00 PM we will be addressed by our Guest Speaker, in the auditorium. Tickets for the dinner may be obtained from any of the officers. The celebration will continue at 9:00 AM, Monday morning, February l6th, at which time we will lay a wreath at George Washington's Tomb at Mt. Vernon. The ceremony will be immediately followed with a coffee, served at the Mt. Vernon Inn. All Brethern, their families and guests are cordially invited to attend.
The Archives Committee Chairman, Worshipful Brother Lloyd Onion, requests that any brother, who might have copies of the minutes of any past Archives Committee Meetings, submit the same to him. This committee is attempting to restore parts of our valuable history by obtaining a full set of minutes. Your assistance to this laudable endeavor is encouraged; and would be gratefully appreciated.
I would be pleased to receive comments or criticism regarding the spaghetti dinner served by the Stewards on January 22nd. Although maintaining it as a regular function places an additional burden on the Stewards; Lodge participation and enthusiasm could outweigh this factor. I thank you in advance, for your continuing support and cooperation.
Sincerely and fraternally,
James B. Stone
Worshipful Master
