Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

June 1978

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

The month of June is once again filled with many activities. At our first Stated Communication, we will hold our usual business meeting and receive those Brethren celebrating their Masonic Birthdays this month. At our second Stated Communication our Senior and Junior Wardens will conduct the activities of the evening. Your attention is invited to their remarks elsewhere in the Trestleboard.

Sunday, June 25th, will be the day of our annual Lodge Picnic at Ft Hunt Park (Area "A"). The picnic will start at 11:00 AM with fried chicken and all the trimmings served at 1:30 PM. Hot dogs will be served at 5:00 PM and soft drinks and snow cones will be available all day long. We will have baking contests, athletic contests and games and prizes for the kids. If you haven't already signed up for your event, see Brothers Snyder and Freeman for all the information.

Brethren, we will have several visiting lodges holding meetings in our Lodge room on various Saturdays this month. If you wish to see the ritual of our sister jurisdictions, this would be an opportune time to do so. These visiting lodges are always glad to see Virginia masons visit their lodges. If you wish to know the names, dates and times of their meetings, call me for details.

Brethren, time forces passage of history and civilizations. Yesterday is now history-have you done anything today to further our masonic heritage for tomorrow?

Sincerely and fraternally,
Dennis C. McCraney

My Brethren:

The Wardens are pleased to have the opportunity to conduct the meeting on June 22, which has been designated Warden's Night. On this particular evening we will, not only, open the Master Mason's Lodge and conduct the business, but will also, initiate an Entered Apprentice into the First Degree of Masonry. We are anxiously looking forward to this event and hope you will be present to help us welcome the Wardens and Visitors who will be visiting us on this special occasion. The Degree Team will be composed of a special group of Master Masons to be announced that night. We chose this method of initiating an Entered Apprentice to celebrate the anniversary of St. John the Baptist and also, to see if we, as Wardens, could perform our duties to your satifaction. We hope you will not disappoint us by your absence and that we will not disappoint you in our performance.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Jason W. Snyder, Senior Warden
