Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

August 1978

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

This month we will not have a heavy schedule; however, there are some important dates to remember. At our first Stated Communication, we will receive those Brethren celebrating their Masonic Birthdays in August, and conduct our usual business meeting. At this meeting, we will act on the following proposed change to our By-Laws and Standing Resolutions that was submitted in writing at our Stated Communication of July 13, 1978:

"Renumber Resolution Number 9 as Resolution Number 10 and insert the following as the new Resolution Number 9 - TO COMMEMORATE THE BIRTH OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, THE LODGE SHALL HAVE A BANQUET IN THE GEORGE WASHINGTON MASONIC NATIONAL MEMORIAL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE STATED COMMUNICATION HELD FOR THE CELEBRATION OF SUCH BIRTH. ONLY THOSE WHO ARE NOT MEMBERS OF ALEXANDRIA-WASHINGTON LODGE MAY BE ASSESSED A FEE FOR ATTENDING THIS BANQUET."

A two-thirds affirmative vote of the members present and voting is required for approval. Your attendance at this meeting to make your wishes known will be appreciated.

At our second Stated Communication, Worshipful Brother Donald M Robey, District Instructor of Work for Masonic District lA, will present a short program of interest to all.

On Saturday August 19, 1978, the Alexandria Scottish Rite Bodies will hold their annual Blue Lodge Visitation. Dinner will be at 6:00 PM at the Scottish Rite Temple with the conferring of the Master Mason's Degree following. If anyone is interested in obtaining a ticket, please call me. There is no charge; however, spaces are limited and you should request a ticket only if you are sure you are going.

Right Worshipful Brother Godfrey Runaldue is in need of some part-time help on the Souvenir Stand. If anyone knows of someone who might be available, please call Brother Runaldue.

Brethren, the time is fast approaching when we will need a firm committment and final payment for our trip to Boston. The trip will be on September 8-9-10. One bus is already filled and the other will be shortly. If you still wish to go but have not so informed Worshipful Brother Swiger and sent him your registration form, please do so at once.

Brethren, many good things have taken place this year with, hopefully, more to come. These things could not have happened without your interest and active support. Your officers are proud to be serving in their respective offices for Brethren who are so interested in their Lodge. Thank you.

Sincerely and fraternally,
Dennis C. McCraney

Worshipful Master
