Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

February 1980

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

As we approach the 248th anniversary of the birth of our namesake, Ill. Bro. George Washington, it is a fitting time to pause and reflect. The world around us seems to be in a constant state of chaos and turmoil and many people seem to be apathetic, but remember my Brethren, we have taken solemn obligations to do what is right. Granted, one voice may seem lost in the wilderness but try to visualize the world today if Wor. Bro. Washington had remained silent and taken the attitude - I am only one voice, WHAT CAN I DO?

The month of February is always a busy one for our Lodge and this year is no exception. On the 11th, Grand Lodge will convene in Richmond and your officers will be in attendance. Wor. Bro. Pugh (548-0569 home - 549-9234 office) has kindly agreed to serve as my contact should any Lodge business come up while I am in Richmond. You have heard all the Grand Lodge resolutions discussed by Rt. Wor. Bro. Robey at our last meeting and I would appreciate your thoughts and opinions prior to Grand Lodge.

At the stated meeting on February 14th, Grand Lodge reports will be given by the officers who were in attendance.

Tickets for the Washington's Birthday celebration are in the hands of the officers. Please purchase your tickets early. The days schedule appears elsewhere in this. I ask you to please try to be with us for all the Trestleboard events.

At our last stated meeting this month, Rt. Wor. Bro. Simmons, Grand Lecturer, and Rt. Wor. Bro. Robey will be presenting both 50 and 60 year veterans' emblems, if the eligible Brethren can be with us on this date.

Sincerely and fraternally,
James R. Freeman
