Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

June 1981

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

On April 28, 1981 I was hospitalized for the third time this year. Since my confinement and subsequent convalescence might be lengthy, I have requested the Senior Warden. Brother Leo A. Sentiger Jr., to assume my duties as Worshipful Master until further notice. He has graciously agreed to accept these responsibilities. I have the utmost confidence in his abilities and I ask that you give him your cooperation and support.

June 11th has been designated Wardens' Night. Rt. Wor. Lloyd U. Jefferson, Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Virginia will be the guest speaker on that occasion. Brother Jefferson is going to travel all the way from Richmond to be with us. Please try to attend and bring a Brother with you.

We received notification from the Grand Secretary that the 1982 Grand Lodge Session will again be held at the Richmond Hyatt House during the period February 5 thru 10, 1982. Requests for room reservations must be submitted thru our Senior Warden to the Grand Lodge Committee on Arrangements not later than July 1, 1981 in order to take advantage of reduced commercial rates. Anyone desiring to attend the 1982 Grand Lodge Session should contact the Senior Warden by June 15, 1981 in order to make the reservations and also to pay any necessary deposit.

The annual Lodge picnic will again be held at Fort Hunt Park Area "A". The picnic will start at 11:00 AM on June 14th and will continue until dark. Plan to bring the entire family for a day of fun. We will have games for both the young and also the not-so-young. Dinner will be served at approximately 2:00 PM. All food and drinks will be provided. We suggest you bring your own sunshade and favorite chair. In the event of rain we will move into the pavilion. So don't let the weather scare you off.

Don't forget the Church Service at the DelRay United Methodist Church on June 21st at 11:00 AM. In addition to complying with the Grand Master's proclamation to commemorate the feast of Saint John the Baptlst its a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Sincerely and fraternally,
Robert J. Booterbaugh, Jr.

Worshipful Master

NOTICE

The Trustees are currently seeking capable individuals for employment on the Lodges souvenir stand. A vacancy exists for a manager for the stand. The work might be best suited for a retiree that is looking for supplemental income, but this is not an absolute requirement. Members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge will receive first attention but other applicants can be considered. Interested individuals should direct their Inquiries to the Lodge Secretary.
