Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

October 1981

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

On our Stated Meeting of October 5th, Right Worshipful Donald M. Robey, the District Instructor of Work for Masonic District 1A, will make his Official Visit to Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. On this same evening we will present Masonic Veterans Emblems to Brother Julian S. Whitestone and Brother George W. Bogikes. These two Brethren have been Masons for 50 years and are to be congratulated on their achievement.

Don't forget that on October 10th Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 will celebrate the annual event of Ladies Night. This year I have made arrangements at the Holiday Inn on 2460 Eisenhower Drive. The evening will start with a social hour at 6:00 PM and dinner will be served at approximately 6:46 PM. After dinner their will be live entertainment followed by dancing until the wee hours. All of the Officers have tickets for sale. Cost is ten dollars per person. I hope that you will come and help us honor the Ladies on this auspicious occasion.

On our Stated Meeting of October 22nd, Brother Archer L. Yeates Jr., the President of the Masonic Home Board of Govenors, will be our Guest Speaker for the evening. I am sure that Brother Yeates will bring us a very inspiring message. Please plan to attend Lodge on that evening to help me welcome this very distinguished Mason.

The Officers and Members of Alexandria-Washington Chapter, Order of DeMolay have extended a very special invitation to each and every member of our Lodge to attend their Installation of Officers on October 24th at 7:30 PM. This function will be held in the North Room of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The installation is an "open" affair which means that our families and friends are also welcome. Our Lodge is the Sponsoring Body for this DeMolay Chapter and the boys are very proud of this fact. During this year they have assisted our Lodge in many ways. It behooves us as Masons to give them as much support as possible. Lets try and fill their room with our members. Meanwhile, if you know of any lad who might be eligible for membership (Masonic affiliation is not necessary); pass the information on to the Junior Steward, Brother Ron Paterson, as he is also serving in the dual capacity as the Chapter Dad.

Our Secretary, Worshipful Brother Earle Griffith, asked me to take this occasion to remind you that it is again time to pay our annual membership dues. In spite of the high cost of living we have been able to keep the dues reasonable. The Officers, Trustees and various Committees have been hard at work trying to eliminate waste and unnecessary expenses. This is all passed on to the membership in the form of low dues and fees. You too can help by paying your dues in a timely fashion. Repeated notifications are very expensive as we cannot use our bulk postage permit in these instances. Please won't you do your share by paying on the first notification?

Sincerely and fraternally,
Robert J. Booterbaugh, Jr.

Worshipful Master

NOTICE

The Trustees are currently seeking capable individuals for employment on the Lodges souvenir stand. A vacancy exists for a manager for the stand. The work might be best suited for a retiree that is looking for supplemental income, but this is not an absolute requirement. Members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge will receive first attention but other applicants can be considered. Interested individuals should direct their Inquiries to the Lodge Secretary.
