Brethren,

On February 1st we will make an official visit to Potomac Lodge No. 5 to display the Washington Trowel. Brother Harry G. Barnes, the Worshipful Master of Potomac Lodge No. 5 in the District of Columbia is also a member of Alexandria-Washington Lodge. I invite you to travel with me on that evening to visit this fine Brother. We shall meet at the south parking lot of the Memorial at approximately 6:30 PM to form a carpool.

The 204th Grand Annual Communication of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, A.F.& A.M., of the Commonwealth of Virginia will be held in the City of Richmond, Virginia. beginning on the second Monday in February, this being the eighth day of the month, 1982.

The place of assembly will be the Richmond Hyatt House located at West Broad Street and I-64 in Richmond Virginia. The time of convening shall be 9:00 A.M. The Grand Master's Address will be delivered during the morning session of the first day. Grand Lodge Committees will meet that afternoon and distinguished guests from Sister Grand Jurisdictions will be introduced at that evening's session. Tuesday, February 9th morning agenda includes the roll call of Grand Representatives, election of Grand Lodge Officers, James Noah Hillman awards, and Masonic Home Campaign Drive awards. Resolutions numbered 82-01 through 82-15 will be presented for consideration and balloting during the afternoon session. Installation of Grand Lodge Officers and the Inaugural Address of the Grand Master are scheduled for that evening. The Committee on Work will meet February 5th, 6th and 7th to exemplify the work. Grand Lodge is scheduled to adjourn on February 10th. Anyone who desires more complete scheduling; please contact the Secretary.

At the February 11th Stated Communication the Lodge Officers will present their reports of their attendance at Grand Lodge.

On the 14th of February the Grand Master of Masons in Virginia is scheduled to arrive in order to participate in the Annual Observance of George Washington's Birthday the next day. We will entertain the Grand Master at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre in Woodbridge that evening. I have arranged reservations for 70 seats for those who want to participate on a "dutch-treat" basis. Contact me for details. First-come, first-served. Seats are going fast.

On Monday, February 15th Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the birth of that distinguished Mason and Patriot, General George Washington. He was the first President of these United States, the Father of our great country. He was the first Master of our Lodge under the Virginia Charter.

At eight-thirty o'clock that morning we will assemble at the gate of Mount Vernon. At nine o'clock we will go in our automobiles, in procession, to the tomb to perform the Wreath-Laying Ceremony; which is our ancient custom. The Grand Master and a few Sister Lodges will take part. All in attendance will be most cordially invited to partake in a special brunch in the dining room of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial following the ceremony.

At four o'clock that same afternoon Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22, A.F.& A.M. will hold a Stated Communication of the Lodge to receive Most Worshipful Lloyd Ulrich Jefferson, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia. On this occasion Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 will bring the Washington Bible and Potomac Lodge No. 5 will bring the Washington Gavel for our use during the meeting and display.

At six o'clock we will commence the Annual Banquet and other festivities. Dinner will be served at this time. The meal will consist of appetizer, salad & dressing, rolls & butter, beef from the rotisserie, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, mixed vegetables, ice cream topped with hot cherries, coffee or tea, and mints. Families and friends may attend. Dress is formal, black tux, for the officers. All others are requested to wear tux, but dark suit and tie are acceptable. Price, which includes entertainment, is $7.50. All officers have tickets.

At approximately seven-thirty o'clock in the evening we will retire to the Auditorium to hear the Address of Most Worshipful Lloyd Ulrich Jefferson, the 138th Grand Master of Masons in Virginia.

The Grand Master's Address will be followed by entertainment to be provided by Dorthy Kingston and David Troup with Michael Patterson at the piano. Their performance is by special arrangement for your exclusive enjoyment.

On Wednesday, February 17th, we will travel to John Blair Lodge No. 187 located in the Scottish Rite Temple on Braddock Rd. to make an Official Visit. This occasion will be the homecoming of the District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 1A, Right Worshipful Werner H. Morlock. I hope that many of you will join me in greeting this very distinguished Mason.

At our Stated Communication of February 25th we will enjoy the very special privilege of having a very brilliant and dedicated Freemason to be with us. He is our own Right Worshipful Donald Maynard Robey. He has an excellent talk prepared on, "Washington-The Man". He has shared a small excerpt with me and I know you will be delighted.
