On April 2-3, 1982 Alexandria-Washington Lodge will act as the host for the William Hiram Wood Area Masonic School of Instruction. This school will be in two sessions. The first will be at 7:30 PM on Friday evening. April 2nd and the second session will be on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. On these two dates, there will be an exemplification of each of the degrees. The Entered Apprentice Degree will be conducted on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, we will continue witn the Fellow Craft and Master Mason Degrees. These schools provide the perfect opportunity for those of you who are just "getting started", to those who are "seasoned veterans". Please come if you can.
At 5:00 PM on the evening of Saturday, April 3rd, the Grand Master of Masons in Virginia will make his Official Visit to Henry Knox Field Lodge. This meeting will be in the Scottish Rite Temple on Braddock Road.
At tne Stated Communication of Thursday. April 8. 1982 Alexandria-Washington Lodge will receive Worshipful Brother Dennis L. Scholl, the District Educational Officer for Masonic District 1A. Brother Scholl will deliver a talk that is entitled, "To Give is to Receive".
At the stated meeting of Thursday. April 22. 1982 Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 will celebrate tne anniversary of the date of the Virginia Charter (April 28, 1788). In accordance witn Article I of the By-Laws we will hold a portion of our meeting in the "Replica Lodge Room". On tnis same night we will devote our program to tne Founders of the Grand Lodge of Virginia. Brothers Richard A. Duvall and William H. Long Sr., co-chairmen for tne Masonic Home Committee, will deliver an interesting program honoring the Founders of the Grand Lodge. Every Virginia Freemason should take this opportunity to contribute to the Masonic Home of Virginia as an outward expression of the charitable traditions laid down for us by the Founders of our Grand Lodge. Please send your donations to the Lodge Secretary so he may make his report to the Grand Lodge.
On Sunday April 25th we will hold a breakfast in the Memorial dining room. This social occasion will be open to all members, families, and friends. The fare, consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, hot cakes, biscuits and jelly, juice and coffee, will be served continuously from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. to allow you to fit in with your church schedule as necessary. The cost is to be defrayed by any "free-will" donation you might care to make. Be sure to come along and share in the fine fraternal fellowship on that day!
There will be meetings on April 19th and 29th which have been called for the purpose of work and instruction. We will do work in the EA and FC Degrees respectively on those dates. If it has been awhile since you have seen or participated in the degrees...don't put it off any longer. Come out and give us a hand.
This month there will be two visiting Lodges using our Lodge Room. Both are scheduled to be here on Saturday, April 17th. Please note the designs on the Trestleboard for the proper times. If you would like to observe work from the other Grand Jurisdictions ...this is your chance!
On May Ist this Lodge will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the purpose of attending the Ladies Night celebration of William L. Elkins Lodge No. 646. All brethren and their ladies are most cordially invited to participate. This festive occasion will be held at the King of Prussia Holiday Inn at 6:46 PM on Saturday, May 1, 1982. Tickets are $20.00 per person. Please contact me if you would like to attend and/or if you need hotel accomodations.
During Memorial Day weekend this Lodge will travel to Beverly Massachusetts for the purpose of a Fraternal Visit to Liberty Lodge, A.F.& A.M. All brethren and their ladies are most cordially invited to participate. Chartered bus transportation is being arranged for those desiring this mode. Tentatively we will depart from the Memorial at 8:00 AM. Friday May 28th and return on Monday. Food and refreshment will be placed aboard. Cost will be pro-rated to those traveling by this means.
So that arrangements may be properly made, both for transportation and housing at Beverly, all who intend to participate should advise the Junior Warden, Brother Archie Lyon.
The Officers and Members of Alexandria-Washington Chapter, Order of Demolay have extended a very special invitation to each and every member of our Lodge to attend their Installation of Officers on Saturday, April lOth at 7:30 PM. This function will be held in the North Room of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The installation is an "open" affair which means that our families and friends are also welcome. This year they are celebrating their 20th Anniversary as a Demolay Chapter. Please join me as I go to congratulate them on this joyous occasion.
