On Wednesday, June 2nd this Lodge will travel to Seat Pleasant Lodge No. 218, District Heights, Maryland, for the purpose of paying a fraternal visit to our very good friends there. Most Worshipful J. Thomas Middleton, Past Grand Master of Maryland, will speak on the history of the Grand Lodge of Maryland. Also, this will be the occasion when their Grand Inspector, Brother Harold G. Taylor, will make his Official Visit. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM. We will meet at the parking lot on the south side of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial at 6:30 PM in order to carpool. All Brethren are most cordially invited to attend.
At the Stated Communication of Thursday, June 10, 1982, Alexandria-Washington Lodge will be privileged to have Right Worshipful Charles H. Rowell as a guest speaker. Right Worshipful Rowell is the Division Lecturer for Division Six. He has most graciously consented to give us a talk entitled, "Lodge Etiquette and Protocol".
On Sunday, June 13, 1982, at 2:00 PM the DeMolay will confer the Legion of Honor and Chevalier Degrees in our Lodge Room. On this very special occasion honors will be bestowed upon two members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge. They are Brother Frank Horuff and Brother Ronald Paterson. Brother Horuff will receive the Legion of Honor and Brother Paterson will receive the Chevalier Degree. Please join me on that day when I go to congratulate these two outstanding Brothers.
On Sunday, June 20th the annual Lodge Picnic will be held at Fort Hunt Park Area "A". The picnic will start at 11:00 AM and will continue until dark. Plan to bring the entire family for a day of fun. We will have games for the young and also for the not-so-young. Dinner will be served at approximately 2:30 PM. All food and drinks will be provided. We suggest you bring your own sunshade and favorite chair. In the event of rain we will move into the pavillion. So don't let the weather scare you off.
Our stated meeting of June 24th is designated "Law Enforcement Night". Our speaker on that night will be Brother David Huff, who is a member of our Lodge. I am sure Brother Huff will have an inspiring message for us.
On the morning of Sunday, June 27th, Alexandria-Washington Lodge will observe the Feast of Saint John the Baptist by attending divine worship service at the 11:00 AM service at Christ Church. The George Washington pew and several other pews in the immediate vicinity have been reserved for the use of our Brethren. This act of corporate worship is to commemorate our Patron Saint John the Baptist in grateful remembrance of the zeal and truth so richly demonstrated in the life of that Saint.
On Tuesday, June 29th, District School will be held at Macon Ware Lodge 192. This will be the last District Scho.ol until September. I remind you that these schools are not only for the Officers. Any Master Mason in good standing is eligible to attend.
We shall have three visiting Lodges using the Alexandria-Washington Lodge Room during the month of June. On Saturday, June Sth at 1:00 PM, West Shore Lodge No. 681 from Camp Rill, Pennsylvania, will put on a Master Mason Degree. Again, I remind you of the numbered series of the Alexandria-Washington Lodge Bicentennial Commemorative Medals. Some are still available to members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge. The time for ordering has been extended to June 30, but don't wait and miss out. You will never have another opportunity once these are gone. See or write the Secretary now and place your order. Unnumbered medals will also be available and may be ordered by anyone desiring these handsome souvenirs of 200 years of Freemasonry in Alexandria.
Please mark the important date of Saturdayt August 21, 1982, on your calendar. This date has been designated as "AWARENESS DAY" at the Masonic Home of Virginia by our Grand Master. The purpose of this event is to make all Masons and their families more aware of the facilities which we have at the Masonic Home and why the expansion program is so vitally important. Therefore, the Masonic Home will be open to the entire Masonic Family from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM on August 21st. There will be continuous tours of the Home - Grand Lodge Office and Museum. Free lunch for all will be served from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM and there will be entertainment provided. The Grand Master has set the goal of at least one bus load from each District and 1,000 car loads from all areas of the state. The Masonic Home of Virginia is located on Nine Mile Road in Richmond. Arrangements are now being made to hire at least one bus from our District. Cost will be approximately $8.00 per person and will cover any refreshments served on the bus.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Leo A. Sentiger, Jr.

Worshipful Master
