I trust that each of you have included in your New Years' resolutions the one that says, "I will support my Lodge, and the Masonic Home."
As you will note in the trestleboard, at our first stated meeting of the year, that Mason of Masons, and my dear friend, Right Worshipful Glenn S. Faxon, has consented to come down from the mountains of Edinburg and bring us what I am sure will be an inspiring Rededication message. Please join me in showing this distinguished Mason how much we love our Lodge, and how much we appreciate his being back with us.
I suppose one of the most understated matters of Lodge business is that of proposed resolutions which come before the Grand Lodge each year. These should be of great concern to each Virginia Mason as they are all potential changes to our Masonic law in the Commonwealth. We will discuss these proposed resolutions at our stated meeting on the 27th.
During 1983 our CALLED communications will open promptly at 7 PM. I hope that this change will encourage many of you to join in the ritual work of the Lodge.
As some of you may recall, we had a most enjoyable evening at the Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre last year. Our Junior Past Master, Leo A. Sentiger, Jr. did a super job in arranging that event on very short notice. We are going to do it again on the 20th of February. This will be a joint venture with the Masons and Eastern Star in Northern Virginia. Alexandria-Washington Lodge has been allotted 100 tickets for this event. The cost is $15.95, with the proceeds going to the Eastern Star religious training program. Please contact me or the other Officers to obtain tickets.
My brethren, I plan that during 1983 there will be no ticket sales to Lodge functions, except Ladies Night. Your participation in the Lodge activities is more important than the selling of tickets. I do however, ask that you let the Stewards know if you plan to attend a dinner which is scheduled so that they can prepare the proper amount of food.
God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.

On the 27th of January, we will vote on the following proposed changes to RESOLUTION # 4 - TRUSTEES.
"One member of the Trustees shall be from the general membership and hold no title, or appointive or elective office in the Lodge. If during his term he should be appointed or elected to an office, or receive a title in the Lodge, he shall immediately resign from the Trustees."
Delete the paragraph which reads: "The Senior Trustee shall preside as Chairman and the Junior Trustee shall serve as the Secretary to the Committee."
These changes are recommended by the Trustees.
