Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

February 1983

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

The month of February will be perhaps the busiest of the year. I cannot think of a single event of 1983 when our lodge will be more honored than the Stated meeting on the 3rd of February, when we will have with us the Grand Masters of Pennsylvania and Virginia, and the Grand Lodge Officers of the two Commonwealths. I am anticipating that we will have such a large attendance that the auditorium of the temple is being held for us, just in case.

The officers will be attending Grand Lodge in Richmond 13-15 February.

This will be closely followed by a table lodge on the 19th to welcome our new Grand Master, William Munford Johnson. This will be a called communication, in the banquet hall of the temple. We urge all Lodges to attend and to bring with them Entered Apprentices, Fellowcraft and as many Master Masons as we can fit in the hall. Dinner will be at 6:30 PM. There will be no ticket sales but we will take a free will donation. All that we ask is that you inform the Secretary of the number of people you expect to bring.

There is not much time for you to get your tickets to the Lazy Susan gathering for Masonic Night on the 20th. Please contact any stationed officer of the lodge or the Secretary to obtain your tickets at $16 a head.

On the morning of the 21st, we will make our annual pilgrimage to Mt. Vernon to honor our late distinguished Brother George Washington. Refreshments at Collingwood following the wreath laying. Dinner at the temple, MASONS ONLY at 6PM , followed by a Stated communication, Erskine Stewart, editor of the Virginia Masonic Herald will be our speaker.

On the 25th we will have a Stated communication, with work in the Entered Apprentice degree to commemorate the FIRSf meeting of our lodge, 25 February 1783.

In addition to all or the above, there will be a called communication on the 8th for work in the Entered Apprentice degree.

My sincere thanks to those or you who have so cheerfully given of your time and advice to me for the events ahead. Let's work together and make this a great year or you and me in 83.

God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
