Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

July 1983

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

As we begin the annual pilgrimages to our favorite vacation spots please do not forget the Masonic Home of Virginia. While you are making out the checks for the paper boy, milk man, or what have you; write one more and drop it in the mail to the home, or the Lodge Secretary. I guarantee that you will feel real good.

The month of July is "Americanism" month which is the time when each of us should pause to reflect on how wonderful it is to be an American. Our Lodge patriotic program will be the first Stated meeting on the 14th of July, when my dear friend and Brother, Worshipful Master Roland Childress, Donovan, Lodge No. 75, Deltaville, Va., will be with us to deliver an inspiring patriotic oration. Also on that date, we will have with us the members of George C. Whiting Lodge 22, Washington, D.C., and the Grand Master of the District of Columbia, Most Worshipful Donald L. Mallorey is planning to attend.

Please mark you calendars for the "Bleed and Feed" to be held at the Memorial from 9 to Noon on the 20th of August. This will give you the opportunity to donate some blood to the Masonic Blood Bank and be red breakfast. Ir you don't want to bleed, you can be fed for $2.

I will be on vacation from the 28th of June through the 6th of July, and again from the 29th of July through the 6th of August. In case of an emergency please contact the Lodge Secretary or the Senior Warden.

The following changes should be made to your 1983 schedule of Lodge programs: Ladies Night will be on the 13th of September, and the Bicentennial Ball planned for the 15th of October is cancelled. Also please plan to attend Lodge on the 25th of August in your best Aloha shirt as this will be casual night.

Rt Worshipful Don Robey is now at home recuperating from surgery. How about sending him a card to cheer him up.

Please note the proposed change to our by-laws which is printed in this trestleboard. Action on this proposed change will be taken at the Stated Communication 25 August.

The Vice Mayor of Alexandria, Mr. Jim Moran, will be our speaker on the 28th of July. I have invited Mr. Moran, and through him, the entire City Council to join with us to further promote the long standing bond between our Lodge and the community.

God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
