As you will note, the lodge trestleboard for this month is very light, which affords us some time for a short vacation. Please note the dates for the south west Masonic school at VPI. If you are interested in attending, please see the Secretary for details.
We were saddened during the month of July over the loss of two outstanding and dedicated Masons; Brother Frank Pace, and Most Worshipful Morris Hewitt Past Grand Master of the District of Columbia.
Plans for our Ladies night are almost completed. Because of the cancellation of the Bi-centennial Ball I would appreciate your full support of Ladies night September 13th as an alternative celebration for this year. There will be two tickets offered; one for the Little Theatre production of "Witness for the Prosecution", and the other for a pre theatre dinner at the Old Club. The purchase of a dinner ticket does NOT entitle the bearer to the play, and vice versa. I feel that this is fair by offering you a choice as to whether you and your Lady wish to attend the play only, thereby avoiding the cost of the dinner, or attend the dinner without the added cost of the play. I hope this works out. We will of course have our friends from Wm. L. Elkins Lodge, Phila. with us. As there is limited space, I would suggest that you make your purchases early to avoid disappointment.
The Stated Communication on the 25th should be a very interesting one as we expect to have with us our Brothers from Panama on an official visit. In compliance with Wor. Bro. Ostranders request, we will raise one candidate to the sublime degree. We will also vote on the proposed change to our by-laws.
Worshipful Brother Wm. Hiram Consla, PM Kemper Lodge, has been appointed by the DDGM as District Masonic Home Ambassador. We congratulate Brother Bill on his appointment, and Rt Wor Ralph Beahm on an excellent choice. We will welcome Wor Bro. Consla at the first Stated Communication 11 August, as he brings us a very important message from our Grand Master.
Please support the Blood Bank Campaign on the 20th. From 0900 to 1200 blood will be taken and breakfast will be served free to those who give. Breakfast only will cost you 2 bucks.
I want to take this opportunity to pay a special thanks to our newly raised Brothers: Culbertson, Anderson, Jones, Whitfield, Sellers; to our Senior Deacon Brother Gilbert, and our Junior Steward Brother Sjoblom for the SUPER Fellow craft degree work they exemplified as a "rookie team" on the 27th of June. I hope that before the year is over, they will raise a candidate to the sublime degree.
God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
