Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

September 1983

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

It is now time to put away the playthings of summer, and return once again to the thrilling beauty and schedules of the fall season.

We have received a beautiful silver commemorative dish from the members of Constitutional Lodge, Beverly, England. It is on display in the glass top table in the Lodge ante room with other bi-centennial mementos.

My Brethren, it is again necessary to remind nearly 85 of you, that your 82 dues has not been paid. The Secretary will be sending out the 83 bills soon, Which will put many of you one year behind and subject to citation. Won't you please contact the Secretary. Common courtesy would dictate that you at least acknowledge the notices already sent to you by the Lodge.

We will have two outstanding speakers during the month of September. On the 8th our own Rt Wor William Adrian Brown will bring us another interesting historical talk. At our Stated meeting on the 22nd, we will honor the Scottish Rite Masons in our valley. Rt Wor Walter Scott Downs, the Masons Mason, will be the speaker.

It is with sadness that I inform you of the passing of Robert Lee Goods, Past Master, Alexandria-Washington Lodge. Masonic funeral services were held on the evening of the 22nd of August. Brother Goods was to receive his 60 year Masonic emblem on the 11th of September.

Our condolence to the family of PM Ryon Ernmitt pugh. Brother Pughs Mother, Maude, passed away on the 20th of August.

Due to the resignation of our Senior Steward, Brother Bob Smith, I have appointed Brother Tom Sjoblom to the position as Senior Steward. We thank Brother Smith for his fine work.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE STATED MEETING ON THE 27TH OF OCTOBER. Our own Alexandria-Washington Chapter, Order of Demolay, will be with us to exemplify the Demolay Degree. These young men were with us earlier this year on the 14th of March and exemplified this same degree. Unfortunately, there were only FIVE members of this Lodge present on the 14th of March to witness the fine work of these young men. To rectify this gross embarassment, I have invited the chapter to come back and let us show them that we do care. You do care, don't you?

Ladies night is getting closer. The 13th of September is not that far away so get your tickets NOW from any officer. The play will be "Witness for the Prosecution", with refreshments served at half time by Brother Yannix Lecavil. The refreshments alone are worth the cheap price of the ticket. Remember there are TWO tickets available for Ladies Night. One ticket is for dinner at the Old Club, $12.50 each. The other ticket is for the theatre at $7.00. The dinner ticket is for dinner ONLY. The theatre ticket is for the theatre ONLY. For dinner and the theatre, you need to buy TWO tickets.

God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
