Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

October 1983

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

It has suddenly struck me that like the sands of life, this year has passed away, almost imperceptibly and I have not yet greeted each of you in your Mother Lodge. There is still time for me to achieve my grand aim to shake the hand of every Master Mason during this year. Won't you please bring your hand to Lodge so that I can shake it?

As you will note, there are many interesting events in this months trestleboard not the least of which is Virginia Night at Potomac Lodge #5, Washington, D.C. This event is being arranged by Virginias own "Charmie" Sinclair. The kicker is that you MUST inform the Secretary Rt Wor Runaldue if you intend to have dinner, which is free, at 6:30PM which will precede the meeting at 7:30PM, 17 OCTOBER. (Reservations are not needed for the meeting; which is also free).

YOUTH NIGHT OCTOBER 27TH...Our Alexandria-Washington Chapter, Order of Demolay, has been working very hard on the degree to be presented on this night. Won't you try real hard to attend this meeting?

YORK RITE NIGHT OCTOBER 13TH...Right Worshipful Berkely J. Green will be our speaker. Rt Wor Green is a truly outstanding speaker as well as being the foremost authority on York Rite Masonry. I can assure you that you will long remember this evening.

Occasionally, a presiding Worshipful Master is the recipient of unexpected, yet extremely pleasant suprises. Such was the case at our called communication on the 19th of September, When Most Worshipful Matthew Lyle Lacy II, Past Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, 1979, honored us with his presence. We thank you Most Worshipful Sir for sharing that evening with us, and participating in the degree work. It is unfortunate that so many; except for the Officers, five visitors, the candidate, and three other members, missed sharing the event. Pease come back and suprise us again.

John Blair Lodge will celebrate Founders Day at their Stated Communication on the 12th of October. Worshipful Brother Bob Byard has invited me to be the speaker for this event. Modesty prevents me from making any further comment.

Kemper Lodge will hold a Stated Communication at the KENA Temple Mosque on the 21st of October. This meeting will be Kempers Shrine Night. The Master Masons degree will be exemplfied by a cast of presiding Worshipful Masters who are also Shriners. This is a first at the Mosque and Worshipful Brother Charlie Grubb extends an invitation to all Master Masons to attend at 7:30PM.

Brethren please remember to make your contribution to the Masonic Home. The continued construction and the future of the home is in our hands. This is a heavy burden, but oh so urgently needed.

God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
