Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

November 1983

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

It has been my privilege during the years, to witness many ceremonies usually intended to acknowledge a service rendered by a member of the Craft. These rewards are for the most part to recognize a single individual accomplishment during a relatively short span of time; and are usually a pin, plaque, or certificate. There are other honors which are more difficult to achieve. These are made in recognition of sustained service and dedication to Masonry, a fulfilling of ones duty to God, his neighbor and himself; an indefatigable devotion to his tasks, and the admiration and respect of everyone who knows him.

The later honor has been confered on our own Right Worshipful Godfrey Pierpoint Runaldue. Our Treasurer for 24 years, current Secretary, faithful and dedicated Mason, and my friend. He has been elected to receive the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree, Inspector General Honorary. (Coronation will be held at the Washington Scottish Rite Temple, 12 November in the morning. Please note that 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Masons only, may attend this ceremony).

We congratulate you Right Worshipful Sir. I have always known that you wore a white hat.

Brethren please note that because Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of this month, there will be but one stated communication.

As we begin the season of holidays we ask again that you be ever mindful of the needs of others. We also ask that you drive carefully.

When your dues bill arrives why not pay it right away????

Work will begin this month on the environmental control of the Archives room. We are indebted to the Memorial Association for this, and the hard work of MW Marvin Fowler, PM Ed Gondella, and PM Oliver Lloyd Onion. Thanks guys.

On December 17th, we will have what I hope Will be an old fashior, family Christmas Party in the Auditorium of the Memorial. Carols, candy, punch, cookies, Santa Claus, and the tree. This will be for our families and friends and I ask the other Worshiful Masters to include this in their December trestleboard. We would ask that the ladies include in their baking plans a few extra dozen cookies, and bring them along.

God Bless You,

L. M. Callahan, W.M.
