Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

March 1984

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

As always. February was a busy and eventful month for Alexandria-Washington Lodge. We were well represented at Grand Lodge, the high point of which was installation of the new Grand Master. Most Worshipful Brother Ralph J. Wimmer. Entering the bottom of the line as Grand Junior Deacon was Cabell F. Cobbs. The business of Grand Lodge was conducted in harmony. Of the nineteen resolutions presented, eight were adopted, seven were rejected and four were withdrawn. A full report will be made at our first stated in March.

The commemoration of the 252nd anniversary of George Washington's birth was observed in fine Alexandria-Washington form from the wreath laying at Mount Vernon in the morning through the Lodge meeting. dinner and program in the evening. We were honored by the presence of representatives of many other Lodges from far and near.

The official reception of Most Worshipful Brother Ralph Wimmer on the 23rd was an event of particular note. We were inspired by his remarks on the occasion and his introduction to his theme for the year: Let There Be a New Light in Masonry.

As we move into March other special activities await us. At our first stated on the eighth we receive our new District Deputy Grand Master RW Brother Albert B. Bailey. It is also Masonic Birthday Night. On the 22nd we honor our wives and widows. So mark your calendar well and let your wife know that this is to be her night. Our meeting will be brief. The ladies will be entertained in the auditorium during the interim. Then we will all enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship together.

March is the month of DeMolay week. the l8th through the 25th, - a good time to show these young men our support of their program and activities.

My thanks to each one for his support and participation. Those who have not been in attendance have been missing out. Come, join with your brethren as together we enter into a third century of Masonic service and brotherhood in Alexandria.

Fraternally,

Archibald W. Lyon
Worshipful Master
