Summer is fading and the fall season approaches. Certainly among the highlights of the summer activities was the bus outing to the Masonic Home on July 28. Although it was sparsely supported, those who participated enjoyed a fine day of fellowship and an interesting time at the Home and at Grand Lodge. For those who have not been, or have not been recently, I commend it to you. The Grand Lodge School at Blacksburg is always worth one's while. We who were in attendance, August 12-16, are the richer for it.
Looking ahead, early September brings two events honoring our Past Masters. On the tenth, the Past Masters will confer the Master Masons degree in costume. I urge each one to come and give these masters of the Masonic art your whole-hearted support. The Thursday following is Past Masters Night with a special program befitting the occasion. We will also be electing a new Treasurer.
The second stated, September 27, is Youth Night. Come and show your support of our Masonic youth organizations by your attendance and participation.
The highlight of October will be Ladies Night which we will celebrate at the Fort Belvior Officers Club. Make your plans to attend now with your lady. We will be joined by our brothers and ladies from Elkins Lodge No. 646, among others. Tickets may be obtained from any of the Lodge officers.
This month also marks the resumption of weekend communications by visiting Lodges. Please assist me in hosting these brethren who come from distant places for the privilege of convening and conferring degrees in our historic Lodge.
Fraternally,

Archibald W. Lyon
Worshipful Master

LODGE UPDATE. In 1982 we voted to raise $27,000 to sponsor a room in the new section of the Masonic Home in Richmond. The GOOD NEWS is that we are now at the $24,000 mark. We can complete our obligation in the next two months - with your assistance. May I count on your participation to raise the $3,000 still needed? Please send your contribution to the Lodge Secretary and mark it for the Masonic Home Construction Fund. I hope to report VICTORY in the November issue. |
