Fall has arrived and another Lodge year is fast winding down. November will be a light month - only one Stated. Let's fill the Lodge room on the eighth as we give thanks to God for our manifold blessings. On the ninth, come out to Kemper Lodge where the Grand Master will bestow the 60 year Masonic service award to one of our own, Brother James B. Cash. Enjoy Thanksgiving at home, or wherever, on the fourth Thursday. Prepare for a full schedule of activity in December.
The last scheduled visit of the year by a visiting Lodge in our Lodge room will be on Saturday, November 3, by Hiram Lodge No. 40 of Raleigh, North Carolina. I would like to see a good representation from Alexandria-Washington to help host them. Come and enjoy their work, North Carolina style.
On the twentieth of October, another fine young man ascended to the chair of Master Councilor of Alexandria-Washington Chapter of DeMolay, Robert Bruce Bernier. As his installation conflicted with our Ladies Night, we, as sponsors, were among the missing. Let us show our support by attendance at one or the other of the Chapter's regular meetings at five pm on Saturday the 10th or 24th. Fraternally.
Fraternally,

Archibald W. Lyon
Worshipful Master
RESOLUTIONTo be voted on at the first stated communication in December: BE IT RESOLVED that the third paragraph of Resolution No. 4 - of the Bylaws of this Lodge concerning Trustees be changed from present wording, i. e. "The Senior Trustee shall preside as Chairman and the Junior Trustee shall serve as the Secretary of the Committee" to read as follows: "The Trustees shall organize themselves annually, electing from among their number a Chairman and a Secretary." |
Freemasonry is kindness in the home; honesty in business; courtesy in society; fairness in work; pity and concern for the unfortunate; resistance toward the wicked; help for the weak; trust in the strong; forgiveness for the penitent; love for one another and, above all, reverence and love for God. Freemasonry is many things, but most of all: FREEMASONRY IS A WAY OF LIFE. Anon.
Friendship is a chain of gold, Shaped in God's all perfect mold, Each link is a smile, a laugh, a tear, A grip of the hand, a word of cheer.
No matter how far or heavy the load, Sweet is the journey - on friendship's road. Anon.
