Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

May 1985

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

Because of the recent change to Grand Lodge law concerning when dues are to be billed, our Acting Secretary will be sending your 1985 dues bill to you in late May. The new law requires that dues for the current year be billed in January of the current year. So, in January 1986 you will be receiving your 1986 dues bill. The Acting Secretary asked me to remind you that (1) our dues for 1985 are $29.00, (2) you can send it to the lodge and save us the cost of billing you, and (3) if you change your address please notify your lodge. Some brothers still owe dues for 1984.

In May our first stated on the 9th will be Wardens' Night. The speaker will be Rt. Worshipful Oscar Wood Tate, Deputy Grand Master of Masons in Virginia. Support your Wardens. Also, masonic birthdays will be celebrated at this meeting. Our second stated on May 23rd will be a joint meeting with A. B. Gay #275. Since A. B. Gay also meets on Thursday, we never have an opportunity to visit each other in lodge, so lets have a fine turn out. Worshipful James Lefever has arranged an excellent speaker for the evening, Worshipful Brother Fred Schwengel, Historian of the U.S. Capital.

On May 11 there will be a blood drive at GWMNM. On May 18 we will be traveling to the Masonic Home to dedicate the room donated by the brethren of our lodge. We will leave the GWMNM at 8:45 a.m. Please call Worshipful Archie Lyon or me, if you plan to attend. Further, I would like to thank those brothers and ladies who visited Elkins Lodge #646 with us.

Remember just bring yourself and family to the lodge's picnic on Sunday, June 2, 1985, at Fort Hunt Park. Also, I have tickets for the Grand Master's official visit to Masonic Districts 1A and 1B on Saturday, July 13, 1985.

With best wishes, I am

Fraternally,

John M. Nicholson, Jr.
Worshipful Master
