Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

May 1986

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

You will be pleased to know the Official Visit of Right Worshipful Brother Odie R. Howell, Jr. DDGM for Masonic District 1A originally scheduled for March 13th and postponed because of illness, has been rescheduled for the first stated in May on the 8th. I know you all share my joy that Odie is able once more to assume his busy schedule. Demonstrate your support for this member of our Lodge who does so well in his office, by being present on this occasion. If you will mark this special event in your calendars and encourage your brethren to attend with you we can fill the Lodge. Odie's visits to other Lodges have resulted in memorable evenings. You may be sure the program he has prepared for his home Lodge will be exceptional.

The second stated in May has been designated Warden's Night. Our Senior and Junior Wardens have planned a full evening of activities including a presentation by R.W. Bro. Dick Mathews PDDBM which you will find both appropriate and entertainlng.

Visiting Lodges are scheduled for use of our lodge room on every Saturday in May. It is a privilege to welcome these brethren on behalf of the members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge and their visits provide a unique opportunity to observe work from many jurisdictions. Our members are welcome and I will be pleased to provide information on visitation schedules. I am sure you will enjoy the work and fellowship.

Our preparations for the Bus Trip to Beverly Lodge are well under way and those of us who are able to go should enjoy a Memorial Day weekend, (four days and three nights ), that will provide exceptlonal opportunities for enjoylnq good fellowship and renewing ties of friendship and fraternal relations with the brethren and ladies of Liberty Lodge. W. Bro. Bob Swiger, representative to Liberty Lodge and Chairman of the Visitation Committee, has located and reserved a bus that will accommodate 44 passengers in air conditioned comfort. Tickets are fifty dollars per person and as I prepare this trestleboard space is still available. If you are planning to make the trip and have not yet made your reservation or sent your check, please do so as this is vital for our planning and that of our hosts in Beverly. To ensure coordination please contact Bob Swiger at 755-5166, daytime or 683-6971, evenings for reservations. Your check may be sent to him at 1204 So. Alfred, Apt. 22C, Alexandria, Va. 22314, or to the lodge Secretary, R.W. Bro. Godfrey P. Runaldue.

On this occasion as in the past the Brethren and Ladies of Liberty Lodge have graciously invited us to enjoy the hospitality of their homes during our visit. Those who plan to accept this generous offer should communicate with Bob Swiger promptly to avoid the inconvenience that delay would cause our hosts. Bob recommends that you use his daytime number as he is often out in the evening. As the activities of spring compete for a place on your masonic calendars please give special consideration to the following events.

Fraternally,

Wayne L. Gilbert
Worshipful Master
