There is no better opportunity to enjoy masonic fellowship than that offered by a visitation to another lodge. I regret that the traditional visit planned to be with our special friends, the brethren and ladies of Liberty Lodge, Beverley, Mass. was postponed. The many conflicting activities of the members of both lodges during the Memorial Day Weekend greatly reduced the number who would have been able to attend. After several discussions with the Worshipful Master of Liberty Lodge it was jointly decided that postponement to next spring would give more members the opportunity to participate. It was also agreed that both lodges would begin planning for the spring visitation immediately so that the brethren of both lodges would have ample time to include this important event in their schedules.
The attendance in lodge on called communications for degree work continues to be poor. I am again asking that you make a special effort to be in lodge as these new masons are introduced to the craft. YOU ARE THE LODGE! Empty seats do not provide the example these candidates require as they assume those obligations which we all share. Note in the trestleboard that three Mondays are scheduled for degree work this month. Your help is needed.
The Lodge Picnic on Saturday June the 14th will be held at Cameron Station. Bill Jones, our Junior Warden, has made excellent arrangements to ensure our enjoyment on this occasion. We will have exclusive use of the picnic area next to the lake by the main gate. Excellent facilities are available for a variety of games and a covered area in the event of rain. This event is open to all masons and guests of masons and I ask that you make a special effort to ensure that all of our young friends know they are welcome. Contact any of the lodge officers for additional details.
To avoid conflicts in your schedules please reserve time in August and October for the special activities of your Lodge. In August on the 10th through 13th we will travel to Blacksburg, Va. to attend the Masonic School at VPI. All who have attended have found this trip to be most enjoyable. Families are invited and the Lodge will pay for your rooms at VPI. Call Jim Stone, 323-8334, or myself 941-7410 for details and reservations.
Please mark the days of October 14th through the 19th, with particular note of Saturday the 18th, Ladies Night, as special in your calendars. We will be entertaining the brethren and ladies of Constitutional Lodge #294, Beverley, England who will visit on those dates. Many activities are planned and details will be provided in Lodge and future trestleboards.
The Lodge Secretary is seeking information concerning the location of Herman Boone Lemon, born 7/28/1890, raised 6/24/26, last known address, 120 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, Va.
Remember the sick and distessed with your prayers and visits.
Fraternally,

Wayne L. Gilbert
Worshipful Master
