In several of the past trestleboards I have requested the assistance of the members of our lodge for degree work. I wish to express my thanks to the few who have responded and have been so faithful in their support. To those of you have been thinking of participating in degree work but have not yet found the time, let me assure you that your help is badly needed. We are fortunate in the number of petitions for initiation we are receiving and each of these new candidates deserve your support and assistance. Note the lodge schools and called communications shown in the trestleboard and make a commitment to attend. Don't assume someone else is meeting your obligation to help our new members in their first steps on the Masonic road.
For those members who may need a refresher in Masonic work in addition to Lodge School I call your attention to the Masonic School at VPI in Blacksburg, Virginia as shown in the trestleboard. All Masons and their families are welcome. There is still time, call Jim Stone 323-8334 for details.
On the first Stated. August 14th, we will continue my practice of enjoying our meetings in the company of our ladies and guests. Programs on that occasion will be presented by the Lodge Education Officer, Vic Peren and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Vic who is also Senior Steward has assured me that your family and friends will enjoy the traditional ice cream social following the program.
On the second stated. August 18th, we will raise a candidate to the sublime degree of Master Mason. The Past Masters of Alexandria-Washington Lodge will be requested to perform the work in this degree. and at the close Wor. Bro. Lawrence (Skip) Callahan has agreed to give the inspiring Canadian charge for the first time in Alexandria-Washington Lodge. Be there. your attendance will assist in making this a special occasion.
Rt. Wor. Bro. Godfrey P. Runaldue, Lodge Secretary, has informed me that a number of brethern are delinquent in the payment of dues. Please check your card to determine if you have overlooked payment. If more serious considerations are responsible, contact the Lodge Secretary or myself.
