Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

December 1986

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

It seems a very short time ago that I was installed as master of our lodge and only a brief time before that when I first knelt where Hiram knelt. On both occasions I assumed obligations. impossible for a man to meet without the aid of friends and brothers. I have received that assistance in full and generous measure and I have no gift of words to allow me to adequately express my gratitude and thanks. I look forward to the years ahead in the hope that they will continue to provide opportunities to meet in fellowship with the brethren and ladies who share the common bond of love for our fraternityand lodge.

Please note December 27th in the trestleboard. There will be an open installation of the officers of Alexandria Washington No. 22 on that date. if possible you will want to be on hand with your family and friends to extend your congratulations. I know all who attend will enjoy the evening. Since some needed improvements are being made to the auditorium this winter, the installation ceremonies will be conducted in the Alexandria~ Washington No 22 Lodge Room.

The Christmas Tree Sale which provides financial support for the Alexandria-Washington DeMolay Chapter will begin on December 5th at the Scottish Rite Temple on Braddock Road. W. Bro. Leo A. Sentiger. Jr. has obtained good quality trees to be sold at a reasonable price for a good cause, all excellent reasons for your support of this effort. Leo is also requesting that anyone who can assist by working on the lot contact him at 683-5087.

For those of you have not been able to attend our meetings this year I am pleased to report that your lodge is doing well. The number of applicants for membership continues to increase, and I am sure you would all be pleased to note the many young masons sitting with your old friends. They are fine young men who are taking an active part in the work of the lodge. With the guidance of the Advisory Council the DeMolay Chapter has increased in membership and enthusiasm and it is a pleasure to attend a chapter meeting and enjoy the company of these young men whose hands hold our future. Through the wisdom and efforts of those who serve on your committees the funds and properties of the lodge have been well preserved. Of greatest importance, we have enjoyed that harmony which prevails among those who meet in fellowship and that friendly contention of seeing who can best work, and best agree.

Fraternally,

Wayne L. Gilbert
Worshipful Master
