Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

June 1987

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

The visit to Philadelphia to be with William L. Elkins Lodge #646 on their Ladies Night was greatly enjoyed by many of our members and their wives. Sincere thanks to Wor. Bro. John Ranck and his committee for coordinating the trip with our brethern in Philadelphia. Thanks also to Wor. Bro. John Nicholson for facilitating our check-out at the hotel.

Our activities in June will begin with a Blood Drive on June 6 at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Breakfast will be served for a small fee to all participants other than the blood donors who are entitled to free breakfast.

For our fIrst Stated Meeting we will have as speaker Mrs. Elizabeth Rohn, Coordinator of Private Programs for the Commission on the Bicentennial of the United States Constitution. Mrs. Rohn is a recognized authority on the contradictions of the Constitutional Convention of 1887. She will receive the Valley Forge Freedon Foundation Award at the upcoming National Sojourners Meeting.

The annual picnic is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at the U.S. Army's Cameron Station. The picnic area to be used is across the road from the pond at the south end of the Station. For the very hungry, there will be beverages, snacks and hot dogs prior to lunch which will be served at 2:30 p.m. Come even if it rains. There is a pavilion in the assigned area.

At our Stated Meeting on June 25, commemorating St. John's Day, we will have Rt. Wor. Bro. Charles Armistead Sinclair, Grand Lecturer Emeritus, as speaker. This will be a treat for all of us in attendance and especially for those who have not heard this outstanding Mason. Archer Bailey Gay Lodge #275 will be with us for a joint meeting on this occasion. I am looking forward to sharing the East with Wor. Bro. Ernie Snyder.

Those unable to attend Lodge on the 25th of June may want to attend St. John's Day services in the Baptist Temple at 700 Commonwealth Avenue in Alexandria on June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Bretheren, let us not forget the sick and bereaved. A visit, call, or a card can make your day and theirs.

Fraternally,

Robert N. Pitner
Worshipful Master
