Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

November 1987

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

Ladies Night, a highlight of our Masonic year, was celebrated on October 10, with about 100 in attendance, including several from William L. Elkins Lodge No. 646. Many thanks to those who worked so diligently to make the evening a success. The ladies' gifts, plates with an American Eagle design, proved to be quite popular. A few surplus plates are for sale at the souvenir stand in the GWMNM.

Recalling the events of October, I especially want to thank Most Worshipful Donald Maynard Robey, Grand Master, and Rt. Wor. John Mclntyre for being our guest speakers at stated meetings. Their presentations were outstanding.

Our Lodge room has been used many times this year by visiting lodges to hold meetings or for degree work. The latest Lodge to visit us was Monitor Lodge No. 197 of Hampton, Virginia. The work of their Lodge was impressive, but not exceeding their generosity. As a token of appreciation for using the Lodge room to raise a candidate to Sublime Degree of Master Mason, Bro. Albert Justice, WM, presented us with a country ham. The ham will be served after our stated meeting of November 12, so be there to enjoy it.

A letter has been received from Bro. Forrest Nagley, Blood Program Coordinator for Region V, asking our assistance in detennining the number of units of blood donated since December 1, 1986. The following quote is from his letter: "In order to evaluate the support by Alexandria-Washington Lodge #22 and its members, the Blood Program Committee ChairnIan needs to know how many units of blood have been donated commencing December 1, 1986. All members of AW-22 Lodge, their family members, and blood donors recruited by them, wheresoever dispersed, are fraternally requested to report their donations." Please report donations to Bro. Wynne Hamrick, AW-22 Blood Chairman, phone number 922-8768.

May each of you enjoy many blessings this fall.

Fraternally,

Robert N. Pitner
Worshipful Master
