Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

December 1987

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

Please note in this month's Trestleboard schedule changes made in order to avoid conflicts with the Christmas Season. Our second Stated Meeting is scheduled for December 17 instead of December 24. The installation of officers' ceremony will be on Saturday, the 26th, instead of the 27th, and the ceremony rehearsal will be on Monday, December 21. The rehearsal and installation ceremonies will take place in the Auditorium of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. The installation is an open ceremony which means the families and friends of those to be installed, as well as all Masons, are welcome and urged to attend.

It is intended that this Trestleboard will be delivered before November 28 in order that the brethren will be advised of two projects unmentioned in the November bulletin. A Blood Drive will take place in the GWMNM on November 28. If you can be a donor or know of someone who can be donor, please join in this drive. Your efforts may save a life, possible your own. Christmas tress will be delivered on the 28th for sale by the Alexandria-Washington Chapter of DeMolay. Worknlen are needed to unload the trees from a truck and to build stands for keeping them upright for display. If you can assist in this effort, be at the Scottish Rite Temple parking lot at 9:00 a.m. on November 28. If you are free to assist in selling the trees, notify Wor. Bro. Leo Sentiger.

Regarding our DeMolay chapter: about 4 or 5 years ago, our chapter was down to two members. Since that time, through the fine leadership of their advisors and Chapter Dads, membership has grown considerably. On the occasionswheriThive observed them in chapter, I have been very impressed with the way they have conducted their meetings. I will be attending their next meeting on December 7, and will be pleased to have a large number from the lodge attend with me. If you haven't attended the chapter this year, take advantage of this opportunity.

On Monday, December 14, at 9:00 a.m. we will lay a wreath at the tomb of George Washington on the anniversary of his death. Our lodge will be joined by Fredericksburg Lodge #4, Washington Lodge #21 of New York, and William L. Elkins Lodge #646 of Philadelphia in honoring the greatest of Americans.

It has been a happy experience to serve as master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge #22 during 1987. At this time, I would like to express my appreciation to all those whose support and interest have helped to make the purpose of Masonry worthwhile. Let us continue to strive toward the goals set before us by those who lead us. With sincere best wishes to each of you and your families for a Happy Christmas and Blessed New Year.

Fraternally,

Robert N. Pitner
Worshipful Master
