This month's activities begin early with the William Hiram Wood School at Elmer Timberman Lodge #54, on May 6th and 7th. Also on the evening of the 7th, Grand Master Hunter Glover Jones will pay an "Official Visit" to Masonic Districts 1A & 1B at the Alexandria Scottish Rite Temple. Tiled Lodge 6:00pm, dinner 7:00pm. All officers and their ladies should endeavor to attend this most important function. Tickets, $10.00 each, are available from Bob Bullock, who can be reached on 370-4454.
Warden's Night is the 12th, when we will be visited by Deputy Grand Master, Cabell Flournoy Cobbs. The officers will "move up", and I am sure RW Bro. Cobbs will bring us an important message.
We will pay our annual visit to William L. Elkins, Lodge #646, Philadelphia, on May 21-23. Their Master, Walter Barlow has planned a great weekend for us beginning with hospitality Friday evening at "Walbers On The Delaware", in Essington Pennsylvania. Saturday, we will join with Elkins for an 11:00am tour of the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia, lunch at Penn's Landing, and that evening attend the traditional "646 Club" function in Walbers "Bridge Room". Sunday morning, there will be a "hearty send-off" breakfast buffet at "The Airport Holiday Inn". Officers, Past Masters, and their ladies are invited and encouraged to attend.
Brotherhood Night is on the 26th, when Andrew Jackson Lodge #120 will join with us. A program on the "Masonic Presidents" will be presented by MW Donald Maynard Robey, and will include a film of interest to the Brethren. This should be a very educational and enjoyable evening.
Looking forward to next month? Plan to attend the Lodge "Annual Picnic" on Saturday, June 18th, 1:00pm till 5:00pm, at Cameron Station, Recreation Area 1. Bring the children, family and friends.
** NOTE: The AW#22 Lodge Ritual School, under the direction of PGM Don Robey, now meets on the second and fourth Monday 7:30pm. Brethren of all Lodges are invited to participate. Come out and brush up on the work.
Fraternally,
William A. Jones
Worshipful Master

200 YEARS AGO - 1788
Washington's fame as a Mason, and the belief that he was General Grand Master, was not confined to this country. In May 1786, two letters written in French were addressed to him from Cape Francois as "General Grand Master of America", soliciting a lodge warrant for the Brethren of that Island. Due to the fact that Alexandria Lodge #39 was warranted out of Pennsylvania, Washington had the letters laid before the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, and they accordingly granted the warrant in 1788.
May 23rd - South Carolina the 8th State to ratify the Constitution.
