I want to thank everyone who helped with, and participated in the Annual Lodge Picnic. There were approximately 175 attendees from the three participating Lodges, and I was particularly pleased to see the 25 or so children. Thanks aga1n to all who made this years picnic a huge success.

Our pilgrimage to Constitution Lodge, Beverley, England is planned for the first two weeks in July, 1989. An organization meeting to discuss our plans will be held 7:00pm Wednesday, September 7, 1988 in the Memorial Dining Room. If you are interested in going to England with us, please try to attend. Call Committee Chairman John Ranck (703) 660-6275 for information. |
Although July finds some Lodges going dark for the summer, we will still be working in the quarries. As you can see by the opposite page, we have scheduled four called communications for work. One Entered Apprentice and three Master Mason Degrees. We can use some assistance with the degree work during July and August because many of the Brethren are vacationing. Call Senior Deacon, Victor Peren on 768-5721 if you can help.
Our first Stated Communicat1on will be on the 14th when we will welcome Walter Scott Downs, who will deliver a program on "The Constitution and Masonry". Brother Downs is a respected Mason, and a dynamic speaker. I hope we will have a good turnout to welcome him to AW#22.
NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO AW#22 LODGE RITUAL SCHOOL ON MONDAY, JULY 25TH. MOST OF OUR OFFICERS WILL BE AT THE SOUTHWEST MASONIC SCHOOL IN BLACKSBURG, VIRGINIA.
On the second Stated Communication we will celebrate "Wives and Widows Night" and will have some special entertainment and refreshmmnts for the occasion. Please come out and pay your respects to the ladies, and join with us for an evening of fun.
Fraternally,
William A. Jones
Worshipful Master

July 15th 1888 - The District Deputy's report on his visit to the Lodge.
"No.22 - This old and historic Lodge is not as actively engaged as perhaps might be desired. Its financial condition has improved, and while its treasury is not overburdened, it has extinguished the debt which for a number of years has rested upon its substant1al and beautiful temple. It will, I feel sure, take new life. It is in good hands and its honorable history is a matter of pride to all Alexandria Masons, as I doubt not it is to all Virginians who love and revere the name and memory of Washington, who once guided the deliberations of the brethren of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22."
July 26th 1788 - New York, eleventh state to ratify the Constitution.
