Happy Birthday! to Beatrice Robinson, who is now residing in the Masonic Home in Richmond. Bea celebrates her birthday on August 29th, and this will be her first birthday away from her natural family. It would be nice if you would drop her a card to let her know we have not forgotten the many years she, and her husband Wes, devoted to our great fraternity. Bea's address is:

Our pilgrimage to Constitution Lodge, Beverley, England is planned for the first two weeks in July, 1989. An organization meeting to discuss our plans will be held 7:00pm Wednesday, September 7, 1988 in the Memorial Dining Room. If you are interested in going to England with us, please try to attend. Call Committee Chairman John Ranck (703) 660-6275 for information. |
Our first Stated Communication, on August 11th, will feature a Masonic Education program on "The Building of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial". Narration by WBro Wm. A. Brown, slides by MW Donald M. Robey.
On the 25th, RW Werner H. (Bill) Morlock will present a program on "Law Enforcement" for our "Civic Recognition Night". As you may recall, Bill had to postpone his talk to us in May due to his trip to the Moscow Summit.
Plans have been finalized for the AW#22 Ladies Night program October 10th. We will be taking a dinner cruise on the "Spirit of Washington" out of Pier 4, on Main Avenue. The cost for the event is $30.00 per person, and will include a three hour cruise, a sumptuous feast of seafood, beer and chicken with a selection of vegetables and salads, rolls and deserts, and a "Salute to Broadway" revue. We have one deck reserved for the Lodge which will accommodate 160 people. Dress will be casual so that we may have a relaxing evening of fellowship together. Call any Lodge Officer for reservations.
Fraternally,
William A. Jones
Worshipful Master

200 YEARS AGO - 1788
August 1788 - The Lodge moved into Joseph Greenway's. Joseph Greenway was the Lodge Secretary, an office he held until 1795.
"Stern rebuke was administered to Robert A------, Esq., on the 23rd, for indulging in too much "Social Mirth". "Robert A------, being present for advancement to the degree of F.C. was found to be in a state of intoxication, where-upon he was withdrawn from the Lodge, and his advancement postponed. He was required to show himself entitled to further advancement by his future conduct." All Stated Meetings being held in the E.A. Degree, he could still attend lodge meetings, however, there is no record of where and when he was advanced.
August 2 - North Carolina refuses to ratify the Constitution, and proposes ammendments, namely a bill of rights.
