On the 4th we will visit Fredericksburg Lodge #4 to celebrate the 236th Anniversary of the Initiation of Illustrious Brother George Washington. Our visit with this historic Lodge is one of the highlights of the Masonic Year, and an event we look forward to every November 4th. The food and fellowship is always great and we usually have a large contingent of AW#22 Masons to make this annual pilgrimage. If you wish to join us please let me know so that I can advise the Master of #4 as to how many will be partaking of their ambrosial dinner.
On our only Stated Communication this month we will be honored by a visit from WBro Thomas E. Weir, who will bring us a program on "The Forgotten Veteran". Tom has accomplished so much in Masonry that I won't even attempt to list the many honors and titles he has earned. It will suffice to say that he is a dynamic speaker, and no stranger to AW#22. I know you will want to join with us on the 10th to welcome this great Mason to your Lodge.
Other activity in the month of November will include the AW#22 Ritual School on the 14th and 28th. and four called communications for the purpose of degree work. Come join us and meet the new Masons of your Lodge.
As my year in the East winds down I reflect with great satisfaction on the accomplishment of the goals we established at the beginning of the year. One in particular I am very pleased with is that of our "Official Visitations". It pleases me to report that your Lodge has made an "Official Visit" to every lodge in Masonic District 1A during the year, and to several lodges, (fourteen in all) in other Masonic Districts. The officers and members of the Lodge who participated in this endeavor are to be congratulated for giving of their time to accomplish this unique goal.
Thank you one and all!
Fraternally,
William A. Jones
Worshipful Master

100 YEARS AGO - 1888
On the 14th of November, 1888, upon the invitation of the Masonic Temple Association, the Grand Master convened the Grand Lodge of Virginia in Special Communication and laid the cornerstone of the new Masonic Temple at 107 West Broad Street, in Richmond, Virginia. (The entire ceremonies may be found in the 1888 Proceedings, page 13.)
The cost of the new Temple, including the site, ran approximately one hundred and thirty thousand dollars, ($130,000.) or nearly fourteen dollars, ($14.00) for each Master Mason in Virginia.
