Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

December 1990

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

It seems like such a short time ago that you bestowed upon me the great honor of serving as Worshipful Master of this grand historical Lodge. In just a few short weeks I must turn the gavel over to my successor. It has been a year that I will long remember and one of the richest and most rewarding experiences of my life. I hope that we can all look back as brothers and say it was a good year. I want to thank the officers and brethren of the lodge for their total support, especially RW Godfrey Pierpoint Runaldue our Secretary for his patients and support, Brother Jack Canard our Junior Warden for all of his extra hard work in support of my programs, and a special thanks to Wor. Brother Hugh Smith for his transportation support and for his fellowship during the many miles we traveled together. I also want to express my appreciation to my wife Doris and all of the Ladies of the Lodge for all their support and assistance given to me to help me make this year a success.

On Saturday the 1st, we will have our final "Blood Drive" collection day for this year. This is a most worthy program and I hope each of you who can give blood will turn out and do so.

On Friday the 14th, at 8:45 am, a joint wreath laying ceremony will be held at George Washington's tomb at Mount Vernon. We will lay our wreath and be accompanied by Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 and Washington Lodge No. 21 from New York. All Brethren and family are invited to attend this ceremony.

On Sunday the 16th, we will have a "Family Christmas Party" in the Memorial Dinning Room for "Kids of all ages." Please come and bring the youngsters. Also, I request that each of the men bring a small gift for a man and the ladies bring a gift for a Lady. Santa will have gifts for the youngsters.

I wish all a happy and safe holiday season; sincerely and fraternally,

Wardell H. Thomas
Worshipful Master
