Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

January 1991

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

Thank you for electing me Worshipful Master of this historic and prestigious Lodge. It seemed only a short time ago when I asked Brother Odie Howell to sign my petition.

My theme this year is Masonic Heritage. Even for a relatively young Mason, it amazes me that our brotherhood is the oldest fraternity on earth; and it is more durable than many younger fraternities. In order to maintain its vitality. our Lodge needs a constant infusion of new members.

An immediate major problem facing my officers is the "delightful predicament" of having approximately ten prospective Master Masons currently receiving their degree work. Therefore. in addition to Called Communications, I will include degree work in one Stated Communication per month for the foreseeable future.

Those January birthday brethren who will be recognized at our Stated Communication, on the 24th, are invited to stay after we call off the Master Mason's Lodge and open a Lodge on the First Degree of Masonry for work and instruction. Perhaps, you have not seen an Entered Apprentice's Lodge in years.

If you enjoyed the food the Stewards prepared for refreshment this past year, you will be pleased to know that Brother Niel McGill has agreed to serve another year as Senior Steward.

The Installation Ceremony was superb. My thanks to the team of Installing Officers, the Ladies of Martha Washington Chapter #42, Order of the Eastern Star, the Officers of the Lodge for 1991, and all the brethren in attendance who helped make this ceremony an unqualified success.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Earl C. Million
Worshipful Master
