Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

February 1993

Master's Message

My Brethren:

February is traditionally the busiest month for our lodge and this year is no exception. Please contact myself, or any of the lodge officers if you have questions concerning tickets or other details about these events.

The Grand Lodge of Virginia will install this year as Grand Master, Rt. Wor. Werner H. Morlock, a devoted member of the craft from the Northern Virginia area. The District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 1A will be our own Wor. Robert C. Swiger. Rooms are still available at the Hyatt Hotel, West Broad Street and I-64, Richmond, Virginia, if you would like to witness this Grand Lodge installation. Our lodge will have a Hospitality Suite for those participating.

At our first stated meeting, we will conduct a Home Coming Ceremony for Rt. Wor. Brother Swiger. It bas been several years since we have had a District Deputy Grand Master selected from our lodge. Please show your support as Rt. Wor. Brother Swiger is welcomed home to his district and mother lodge.

Tickets are still available for the Grand Master's Reception at Kena Shrine Temple February 13 at 6:30 pm. The event will include dinner an entertainment for a donation of $12.00. Please contact any of the lodge officers, for further details. Sales stop Friday, February 5.

On Monday the 15th, our lodge will make an official visit to our sister lodge in the District, Potomac No.5. This will be their George Washington Night with Fredericksburg Lodge's bible, our replica trowel and Potomac Lodge's gavel present for this event. Brethren, let us reestablish this annual tradition that was carried on in the past. We will leave from the Memorial at 6:30 pm for all those planning to attend.

On Thursday the 25th, at 6:30 pm, the officers and members of the National Grand Lodge of France will confer a ceremony for Past Masters symbolic lodges. This will be followed by our regular stated meeting at 7:30 pm. Our guest speaker will be Most Wor. Claude Charbonniaud, the Grand Master of France or his representative.

Tickets for the annual George Washington Birthday Celebration will be available from any of the lodge officers starting in February. Please bring your lady and friends to this event as we receive our Grand Master, Most Wor. Werner H. Morlock. We will also hear remarks from the Mayor of Alexandria, member of Congress and the Bishop Carl J. Sanders, Grand Chaplain of The Supreme Council, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, as we celebrate the birthday of our namesake, the Illustrious Brother George Washington.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Claude H. Harris, Jr.
Worshipful Master

FROM THE CONSTITUTIONS OF FREEMASONRY: Every brother must attend all meetings, whether stated or emergent, when duly summoned unless he can offer to the Master and Wardens such plea of necessity for his absence as the said laws and regulations admit.
