Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

September 1993

Master's Message

My Brethren:

As September arrives, our lodge will again commence a very active agenda and we will continue this type of schedule through the rest of the year.

At our first stated meeting on the ninth, we will have an official visit from Potomac Lodge, who will bring the Washington gavel, Federal Lodge, who will bring their historic jewels and Fredericksburg Lodge, who will bring the Washington bible. Our lodge will exhibit the Washington trowel and working tools used at the Capitol 200 years ago this month. This will be the first time that these implements have been assembled in one place for many years and Most Worshipful Marvin Fowler speak on our historic relationship.

On Saturday, September 18, our lodge has been requested to participate in the ceremonies for the U.S. Capitol Bicentennial Celebration as conducted by the Grand Lodge F.A.A.M. of the District of Columbia. The events to take place are as follows:

7:30 am Prayer Service
Church of the Reformation
222 East Capitol
9:00 am Street Special Communication of Grand Lodge
Russell Senate Office Bldg. Caucus Rm. SR-325
11:00 am Cornerstone Ceremony
East Front of the U.S. Capitol Building

All brethren that would like to attend please contact me for ticket information and seating configurations, as there are special arrangements to follow and additional events in addition to the above schedule.

At our second stated meeting on September 23, we will have Wardens' Night. Our Wardens have arranged for Rt. Wor. James B. Wilkinson, the Grand Senior Warden as the guest speaker. Please attend and support the Wardens as they preside in the Oriental Chair.

Please find attached to our bulletin this month an insert concerning changes to our lodge by-laws. One deals with a simple name change from Souvenir Stand to Gift Shop and the other is a new resolution presenting the lodge scholarship program. Please read these changes carefully, as they will be acted upon at our second stated meeting in September.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Claude H. Harris, Jr.
Worshipful Master
