Summer is with us! When this gets to you, it will be nearly time for us to celebrate FAMILY DAY at the Masonic Home and Grand Lodge. Also, on the subject of FAMILY DAY, NOW is the time to make your reservations to be on the bus with us on July 9. Come on along; meet the members of our Masonic family who are there; tour the Grand Lodge Offices; enjoy a FREE barbecue lunch; watch a parade; play softball, etc. The bus will depart the GWMNM at 8:00 AM, and we'll return to the Memorial about 5:30 PM. At our Stated Communication on July 14, we will have a short business meeting, closing the Lodge by 8:15 pm. At that time, we will open the Lodge to our guests and be treated as the Chemdale Pla~ers present "A Rose on the Altar" -- outside a tiled lodge for only the second time in their history. Ladies and guests -- particularly non-Masons-are invited to this special program.
The Reid James Simmons Masonic School will be held at Fork Union Military Academy, July 20-23. Attend this 3 day opportunity to brush up on ritual floor work, learn a lecture, get a certificate, etc. Cost is only $67.50 per person, room & meals!! Call Wor. Jim Stone (703-323-8334) for reservations.
On July 31, we'll join with Andrew Jackson Lodge for our annual Lodge Picnic at Cameron Station, Picnic Area 1. Plan to come and have an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship. As our guests, we're inviting all the appendant bodies which meet at the GWMNM; Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, DeMolay, Royal Arch Chapter, Commandery, Amaranth, Tall Cedars, etc. No charge--come and enjoy.
The Child ID Program at the Alexandria Red Cross Waterfront Festival, was a big success. Plan to participate with us an the next "Big One," a Child ID fair at Potomac Mills Mall on August 27-28. Say "Yes" when you're called.
From June 27 to July 8, Connie and I will be in Denver for the Annual Shrine Convention. As Bro. George Seghers will also be out of town then, our Junior Warden, Mark Underwood (703-818-1323) will be your point of contact for the Lodge. We'll be back in time to be on the FAMILY DAY bus, July 9.
The Alexandria-Washington Lodge School is going to be reinstituted on Tuesdayevenings. Rt. Wor. Jack Riddell has agreed to direct it. Watch for details.
