Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

October 1994

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

October...another of the busiest months of our year. Ladies Night on October 1; Lodge Trustees Committee; Archives Committee; Stated Communications, a Called Communication for work in the EA and FC degrees...a busy month indeed.

But first, a word about our fraternal visit to Liberty Lodge. Thirty-nine ladies and brethren from Alexandria-Washington Lodge and Andrew Jackson Lodge made the trip to Beverly, Massachusetts over the weekend of September 16-18. We were warmly hosted by brethren and ladies of Liberty Lodge. On Saturday, a Called Communication of Alexandria-Washington Lodge was opened in the Liberty Lodge Room. There, Wor. Donald Smith Kenny, PM of Liberty Lodge was recognized as the newest Honorary Member of Alaxandria-Washington Lodge.

Our Stated Communication, October 13, will celebrate Founders Day and the Masonic Home of Virginia. Rt. Wor. William A. Brown will give us his insight into the founding of the Grand Lodge of Virginia and Wor. Pete Melvin will fill us in on what's happening at the Masonic Home. Our second Stated Communication, October 27, is Past Masters Night. After our traditional dinner, Rt. Wor. Godfrey Runaldue will preside in the East. Alexandria-Washington Lodge Past Masters will occupy the chairs and Most Wor. Don Robey will provide us an overview of the current state of things here at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.

The George Washington Memorial Masonic School will meet this month only on October 18 due to a conflict with an event at the GWMNM on October 4. All are invited to this school for instruction at all levels, tailored to the needs of those in attendance.

Friday, October 7 is date when Brethren and friends from throughout Northern Virginia will honor the memory of Most Wor. Werner Herman Morlock at Kena Shrine Temple. The deadline for ticket orders was September 26. If you didn't order a ticket, NOW is the time to send a donation to help fund a memorial to MW Bill Morlock -- Northern Virginia's own Grand Master -- to be installed in the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Send your donation to:

Rt. Wor. Daniel L. Levin.
1014 19th Street
Arlington, V A 22202

Grand Lodge will be held this year in Roanoke on Monday and Tuesday, November 14 and 15. Housing is scattered among several hotels. Please see the Worshipful Master if you plan to attend and we will try to get you a room.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Frank R. Dunaway, Jr.
Worshipful Master
