November...Veterans' Day...Grand Lodge...Thanksgiving.... Around these dates, we'll insert our Stated Communication, a Called Communication FC & MM degree work and our annual visit to Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4. Please note -- because of Thanksgiving, we have only one Stated Communication this month.
On November 4, we will visit Fredericksburg Lodge No.4 to join with the Brethren of Illustrious Bro. George Washington's mother lodge to celebrate his initiation in 1752 as an Entered Apprentice. Dinner will begin at 6:00pm, with Lodge to follow. If you plan to attend, please let the Secretary or WM know so that we can pass on this information. Fredericksburg needs to know how many to expect at the dinner.
Also, a special Evensong Service at the Chapel in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania on November 6 will mark Bro. George Washington's initiation into Freemasonry. The speaker for this occasion will be Sir Knight Lorance D. Lisle, Eminent Commander of Old Dominion Commandery No.11 and Past Master of Mt. Vernon Lodge 219.
At our only Stated Communication, November 10, we will celebrate Veterans Day. Note that Lodge will open at 7:00pm -- a half-hour earlier than usual. We received a dispensation to do this in order to handle our regular business and to go over the resolutions which are to come before Grand Lodge. By 8:3Opm, we expect to close Lodge and invite in our ladies and guests for our Veterans Day program. Most Wor. Stewart W. Miner, PGM will speak on the Veterans Hospital Visitation Program of the Masonic Services Association.
The George Washington Memorial Masonic School will meet on November 1; instruction at all levels, catechisms, degrees, certificates, floor work. There will be NO SCHOOL on November 15 due to Grand Lodge Annual session.
The 216th Annual Session of the Grand Lodge of Virginia will be held in the Roanoke Civic Center on Monday and Tuesday, November 14 and 15. Delegate housing is scattered among various hotels in the Roanoke area. Alexandria-Washington Lodge will be in the Comfort Inn -- Roanoke Airport. Please see the Worshipful Master if you plan to attend and want to stay in the same hotel as the officers and other members of the lodge. We will try to get you a room.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, let us not forget to show our gratitude to the Grand Architect of the Universe for the mercies and blessings we enjoy in this life.
