Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

May 1995

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

The Grand Master's theme this year is "Building The Craft in 1995". This is an appropriate and timely endeavor, his efforts are proving fruitful and the downward spiral in membership is slowly being reversed. I believe the real building process is an internal or inward one. For the Craft to grow and prosper we must build ourselves as Masons. We must seek knowledge and understanding of ourselves, of our Brethren and of the our world. We must practice tolerance, we must be honest and true towards all mankind, we must strive to improve ourselves in all aspects our lives. We must seek enlightenment and strive to truly build ourselves as Temples worthy to be in the presence of our God. If we truly live as Masons we win build the Craft by the example of our daily lives.

There are two upcoming events we should all support. The first is the Scottish Rite Spring Reunion. May 6, 1995 in honor of Most Worshipful Brother Morlock. The second is the Alexandria-Washington Order ofDeMolay Installation of Officers. May 20, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. in the north room of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Please support both these worthy organizations and events with your presence and participation.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

George D. Seghers
Worshipful Master

"What leisure his labor allows, he is to employ in studying the arts and sciences with a diligent mind, that he may the better perform all his duties to his Creator, his country, his neighbor and himself. For, in a few words, 'to walk humbly in the sight of God, to do justice, and love mercy,' are the truly indispensable characteristics of a real Free and Accepted Mason." *
