My Brethren:
By the time you receive this bulletin, the officers of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 will have been installed for the ensuing Masonic year, 5996. I hope everyone enjoyed the Installation ceremonies and the reception that followed. It is my pledge to live up to the honor you have conferred upon me and merit the confidence you have reposed. Many thanks are extended to the Installation Officers, Order of the Amaranth, and members of this Lodge that participated in this time honored event.
Enclosed with this month's bulletin is a copy of my Master's Plan. We have many exciting programs and events slated throughout the year. Each Stated Communication has a particular theme that is associated with the Master's Plan of "Building the Fourth Pillar". I hope this will assist you in making plans to attend these functions and thereby be the better enabled to support Masonry in general and your Lodge in particular. Also enclosed is a list of Committees and additional appointed positions for 1996. Please assist these brethren and the Lodge Officers when called upon to help strengthen and support the work of this Lodge.
Our French brethren from our sister Lodge, Alexandria Lodge 876, (consecrated in October of 1994, Charters exchanged in September of 1995) who made the long journey to attend our Installation ceremony and to visit with us during the Holiday season will be leaving us on January 2. We wish them well on their return trip home, and we look forward to our next meeting together.
At our first Stated Communication, we will open a Lodge of Sorrow, present Worshipful Brother David Kruger with his 50-year Masonic Veterans Emblem and hear some remarks from Right Worshipful Walter S. Downs on this meetings theme of Rededication.
We will receive the District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful James G. "Pete" Melvin, Jr., at our second Stated Communication. I will have some short remarks regarding the Master's theme of "Building the Fourth Pillar", and we will be voting on the proposed amendment to change Article III of the By-Laws of Alexandria-Washington Lodge as submitted by Worshipful Brother George D. Seghers in December.
I look forward to serving you as Worshipful Master of this historic Lodge. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to give me a call anytime.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Mark W. Underwood
Worshipful Master
