Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

Master's Message

My Brethren:

At our first Stated Communication, we will be having a tree planting ceremony. In accordance with the Master's Plan and for the symbolic significance of the scheduled topic of Hope, we will plant an Acacia tree on the grounds of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial.

Our second Stated Communication purposely coincides with the planned topic of Charity from the Master's Plan with the St. John the Baptist Day Celebration. Our District Blood Coordinator, Brother Ed Richberg, will have a short talk on the charity of giving blood. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 24, at Gadsby's Tavern. (See the Lodge Trestleboard for additional information.) We will open Lodge; process to Christ Church with Knight Templars from various Commandries; enjoy a charity sermon; present a charitable contribution to the City of Alexandria for the poor; and recess back to Gadsby's Tavern for dinner and masonic toasts. Tickets will be sold at a cost of $20 to help offset the cost of the dinner and the function. Space will be limited, so get your tickets early from the Lodge officers.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We need volunteers to help host guests traveling from afar for Friday, August 9, and Saturday, August 10. Our friends from Liberty Lodge of Beverly, Massachusetts, will be here for their bi-annual visit and to enjoy the fellowship of the Lodge Picnic-Reunion. Your help to provide housing for these as well as guests from other sister lodges will be greatly appreciated. Please call myself or Rt. Wor. Bro. Bob Swiger (703-683-6971) if you are able to assist.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Mark W. Underwood
Worshipful Master
