Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

July 1996

Master's Message

My Brethren:

On July 11, at our first Stated Communication, we have a historic evening planned under the theme of Friendship from the Master's Plan. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the old Lodge room at City Hall located on Cameron Street in Old Town Alexandria. At 8:00 p.m., in cooperation with the City of Alexandria, we will dedicate a plaque with the Mayor of Alexandria, the Honorable Kerry J. Donley. The plaque describes the wording on a white marble tablet located on the second story of City Hall on the Cameron Street side. Members of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 in 1874, dedicated this marble tablet in commemoration of the new lodge building that was built to replace the one that had been destroyed by fire in 1871.

The lapse of time has taken its toll on the tablet and the inscription is almost unreadable. The new plaque will be located directly below the tablet and at street level. This meeting and ceremony promises to be a memorable and historic occasion that you will not want to miss!

At our second Stated Communication, we will hear remarks about the scheduled topic of Morality from the special perspective of Father-Reverend and Brother David C. Rupp. Make plans to attend!

IN MEMORIUM:
Robert Nelms Pitner, PM
1920 - 1996

May he rest in peace.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Mark W. Underwood
Worshipful Master
