Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

February 1997

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of the members of the Masonic community who took part in making my installation ceremony on December 27, 1996 a great evening.

We will have a variety of educational and enriching programs in February. I hope you will join me and the officers in our lodge during this busy month.

This year we celebrate the birth of our Illustrious Brother George Washington on his actual birthday. Our celebration will include a wreath laying by our lodge and other lodges at Mt. Vernon; a reception at Collingwood; the official visit to our lodge of Most Wor. Alan Wayne Adkins, our Grand Master; a banquet in the dining room of traditional eighteenth century cuisine; and entertainment in the auditorium will be provided by Historic Scenarios Unlimited of Winchester, Va. We will all be transported back to 1797. I am sure you will enjoy the day. Our first stated communication will feature Wor. Frank Dunaway speaking about the masonic working tool, The Trowel. His discussion will include its symbolism and meaning. Our second stated communication will feature Wor. Kirk MacNulty. He will speak to us about the symbols used in masonic tracing boards and their meaning.

The first ritual school this year for Masonic District lA will be held at Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 120. All lodge officers and any brethren wishing to become more proficient in ritual are encouraged to attend.

Tickets for the annual George Washington Banquet and entertainment will be available from any of the lodge officers starting in early February. Please bring your ladies and friends to a most enjoyable evening.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Walter L. Margeson
Worshipful Master
