Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22

August 1997

FROM THE EAST

Brethren,

One Entered Apprentice was initiated in our lodge last month. The Saint John's Day festivities in June were very enjoyable. I would like to thank everyone who supported this program and the degree conferral.

At our first stated communication, Bro. Robert Frank Feldman will speak on the subject Why George Washington? This will be a joint meeting with Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 120. At our second stated communication Wor. William David "Bill" Mitchell will speak on the Fellow craft Ritual.

On August 15th and 16th the Most Worshipful Alan Wayne Adkins Grand Master of Masons in Virginia will make a "mason at sight" of a prominent northern Virginian. All brethren are welcome for this special event.

The lodge picnic was held on July 20 at Fort Hunt Park. A wonderful time was had by all. It was nice to see everyone on this lovely summer day. A special thanks to Peter Nelsen and David Webber for their support.

At the stated communication in July a motion was presented to change the following By-law Article II. The motion will be acted on during the stated communication of September 11, 1997. Proposed By-law revision: Every member of this Lodge except the Treasurer, Secretary, Tiler and one Chaplain shall be charged by the Secretary with the sum of twenty three dollars and no cents ($23.00) { change to: fifty dollars and no cents ($50.00) annual dues, plus Grand Lodge Per Capita Tax, and any Grand Lodge assessment. This motion was recommended by the Finance Committee. This proposal is of great importance to all members of the lodge, and I once again elicit your involvement and support in this crucial issue. The Finance Committee will continue to meet to seek solutions for the financial issues of our lodge. All Brethren are welcome to attend these meetings.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Walter L. Margeson
Worshipful Master
