My Brethren:
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the trust and confidence you have reposed in me by electing me Master for 1998. It is an honor and privilege to serve our gentle craft from the East.
I would ask each of you to come and support your Lodge by attending as many Stated and Called Communications as you can throughout the year.
At our first Stated Communication, January 8, we will open the Lodge of Sorrow and I will be delivering an address that will outline this year's theme, "A Temple of Living Stones."
We will be making two Official Visits in January. The first to Henry Knox Field Lodge No. 349 on Tuesday, January 13, at 7:30 p.m. and A. Douglas Smith Lodge of Research No. 1949 on Saturday, January 31, at 10:00 a.m. It would be great to have a large Alexandria-Washington contingent at these events.
Rt. Wor. John David Denton, DDGM will be making his Official Visit to Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22 at our second Stated Communication Thursday, January 22, at 7:30 p.m. We will also be celebrating masonic birthdays at this meeting.
Most Wor. Albert Hugh Tignor, Jr., Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, will be making his Official Visit to Masonic Districts 1A & 1B on Saturday, January 24, at the Scottish Rite Temple. This visit is open to ladies and guest. Tickets are $10 for a steak dinner. If you would like to attend, please contact me for tickets.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Philip J. Hays
Worshipful Master
