Master's Message

My Brethren:

This month will be a busy month with degree work. On Saturday, May 2, we will have a Called Communication for the purpose of initiating up to five men into Masonry. Monday, May 4, we will confer another Entered Apprentice Degree and will hear the Master Mason's Catechism returned by one of our members. We will also be passing an Entered Apprentice to the degree of Fellowcraft on Monday, May 11. Please come and support our candidates and your lodge in its work.

With this many new candidates for Masonry, we are in desperate need of catechism instructors. If you are able to help, please contact our Junior Deacon, David Webber. If necessary, we will help you relearn the work so you can teach it to those who are eager to learn.

At our first Stated Communication, May 14, our Lodge Education Officer and Historian, Right Worshipful William A. Brown, will be sharing a presentation regarding the May 12, 1932, Dedication Ceremony for the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. Rt. Wor. Bro. Brown has done extensive research on this memorable event.

As Masonic Home Ambassador for Masonic District 1A, I will give a presentation on the Masonic Home of Virginia at our second Stated Communication, May 28. Come hear about the many exciting changes that are happening in Richmond. We will also celebrate Masonic Birthdays at this meeting.

I would like to thank Worshipful Mark W. Underwood for volunteering to serve as Junior Warden for the first part of this year. As planned, Wor. Bro. Underwood resigned his office on April 23, so the officer line can advance. In consequence, both our Senior Deacon, Michael P. Bible, and Junior Deacon, David S. Webber, also resigned their positions. At our second Stated Communication, May 28, we will hold elections and install the new officers.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Philip J. Hays
Worshipful Master
