My Brethren:
All of the officers and I would like to thank each member of Alexandria-Washington Lodge for giving us the opportunity to serve you. This year is shaping up to be very busy; we will be receiving our District Deputy Grand Master at our second stated meeting for January. Later in the year we will be hosting our sister Lodge from Beverly Massachusetts, Liberty Lodge.
For this year I have adopted the theme of Masonic Unity. We will be striving to get every brother to feel that he can participate in all of the events scheduled this year. I want all of the brethren to realize that they can bring their families to any event that is open to the public. I request every officer and member of Alexandria-Washington Lodge to go the extra mile to help every newly initiated, passed, and raised Mason and his lady to feel welcomed.
At our first Stated Communication we will open a Lodge of Sorrow and at our second Stated Communication we will be receiving the District Deputy Grand Master for District 1A, our own Right Worshipful Granville C. "Jack" Canard.
I would be remiss if I did not say "thank you" to Worshipful Brother Michael P. Bible for one of the most excellent years that Alexandria-Washington Lodge could ever have. We will never forget the bicentennial commemoration of Worshipful Brother George Washington's funeral. The events of December 1999 will go down in the annals of time. Thank you Worshipful Brother Mike and all of the Brethren that helped make last year so unforgettable.
Sincerely and fraternally,
Terry L. Gigure
Worshipful Master
