February 2000

Master's Message

My Brethren:

In continuation of the Masonic theme for this year, our first meeting will be on the Grotto, an organization that I do not know much about but have always been interested in learning more.

February is the month that we again contemplate the birth of the first Master of Alexandria-Washington Lodge No. 22. This is the 263rd anniversary of President and Worshipful Brother Washington's birth. We will again be laying a wreath at the tomb at Mount Vernon with refreshments to follow at Collingwood. Our Lodge has been observing this tradition for many, many years. We could compare ourselves to the United States Post Office…"Neither rain nor sleet nor cold of night will keep this courier from his appointed rounds" when it comes to this tradition. We will open Lodge at 4:00 p.m. to receive a representative of the Grand Lodge of Virginia, Right Worshipful Clifford A. Parker, Grand Senior Warden. There will be entertainment for our ladies during the Lodge meeting. During dinner we will enjoy a presentation delivered by Mr. John Douglas Hall an historical re-enactor. Tickets may be purchased from any Lodge officer. Please make plans to attend this great memorable event.

Our second stated meeting will see Worshipful Sean O'Neal the District Education Officer presenting a program

Our Lodge Ritual School is one of the best that I have ever attended. If you are interested in assisting in the degree work or have thought about becoming an officer of the Lodge or would like to brush up on some of the Ritual work please plan on attending our school. The school is held at 7:00 p.m. every Sunday except when noted in the Trestleboard.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Terry L. Gigure
Worshipful Master
