Master's Message

My Brethren:

In January of this year, I stood before you and tried to explain a theme, which I dubbed Masonic Unity. I thought it was unity between different Appendant bodies, but I was wrong. I now realize that Masonic Unity is the unity of the brethren within a Lodge. It is with deep regret that I must inform you that we will be holding a SPECIAL ELECTION at the first Stated Communication this month. Last month I accepted the resignation of Brothers Jim Stevenson and Robert Harrison, the Junior Warden and Senior Deacon respectively. ALL MEMBERS of Alexandria-Washington Lodge are requested to appear at this meeting to cast your vote in this special election. Nominations will be heard, votes taken, and officers installed as appropriate.

The topic of our second Stated Communication will be the Royal Arch of the York Rite, the guest speaker with be Brother Douglas Jordan. Virginia Masonry's ritual is based on the Ancient York Rite ritual. This will give everyone a chance to find out about the Royal Arch Capitular and Cryptic Degrees.

Next month officers will be switching back to our "Winter uniform" tuxedo black coat and trousers. Stationed officers will be in tails. All officers should be in black coat at the Second Stated Communication in September.

October 26 is Past Masters night and October 28 is Alexandria-Washington Lodge's Ladies night. Stay tuned for further details in the September Trestleboard.

Brethren, Worshipful Brother John Nicholson has told me that he plans to retire from Federal Government services next year, and his future plans are to move to West Virginia in 2002. He suggested that we start looking for someone who could "understudy" with him for the position of Lodge Treasurer. If anyone has any accounting experience or would like to take on a challenging job, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Terry L. Gigure
Worshipful Master
